Controlled Substance and Alcohol Use and Testing
Final rule.
On February 15, 1994, the Federal Highway Administration published final alcohol testing rules. Larger employers were scheduled to begin testing under these rules on January 1, 1995. In response to a number of petitions from the motor carrier industry, FHWA is briefly postponing this implementation date with respect to pre-employment testing only until May 1, 1995, to assist the motor carrier industry to comply effectively with the rule's provisions.
